Welcome. Come inside. For within these walls, good food is more than something we serve up on a plate. It’s a way of life.
Favourite brunch place in the city for sure. Great food, good coffee and accomodating staff. The place is always busy so be prepared to wait or you can make reservations over the phone!
UPDATE: Had to add this to my review after a pretty bad experience my mother in law had at the Grain Store. She tried to make a reservation on a public holiday and was told that she could only have the table for 1.5 hours. She was catching up with friends visiting from overseas and did not want to be rushed so re-scheduled and make a reservation on a weekday at a non-peak time for lunch with her friends. Lo and behold, they were in their middle of their catch up and were told they had to leave because they needed the table back. My mother in law was never told that the 1.5 hour “rule” applied to non-public holidays as well. And the worse thing was there were other free tables so it wasn’t she was hogging a table when the restaurant was packed.
This place has great food but unfortunately my mother in law did not have the best service. We will not be returning and will advise others we know to avoid the place too.
It's a wonderful place with a bright and positive atmosphere. The food we tried was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a great time there and are eager to return. It's remarkable how it seems like a hidden gem as it is barely visible from the street.
Tea lovers come here! First time I've seen tea served properly. Leaf tea brewed before it was served to the table, tea leaves in basket is removed and placed on the side should you wish to brew longer. So much attention is given to coffee in Melbourne it's refreshing to see a place giving tea some much needed attention. Food was lovely.
